Marsh to help clients access ILS capital with new alternative risk & parametric practice – Artemis.bm
Broking giant Marsh has bundled its parametric risk transfer specialism under a new umbrella practice of Global Alternative Risk Solutions, which will be led by Christophe Letondot and also tasked with helping clients access ILS capital with the support of Guy Carpenter.
Most recently, Letondot was working as Marsh’s US and Canada Credit Specialties practice leader, a remit that saw him leading on parametric insurance risk transfer as well, and has been with the company for almost a decade.
In launching Global Alternative Risk Solutions, Marsh has brought together its expertise in parametric solutions, alternative risk transfer, captives, and complex risk.
As a group, Global Alternative Risk Solutions will be able to leverage the broader resources, data and technology of the wider group, to accelerate the development of new risk solutions for clients.
In addition, the practice which aligns capabilities from Marsh Specialty, Global Placement, Captive Solutions, and Advisory, will also work with reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter to access broad capital pools.
These include access to the capital markets and insurance-linked securities (ILS) funds, for corporate clients.
The goal is to innovate on risk transfer products, while best optimising risk capital at the same time. Opening up the corporate client base to deep pools of capital for parametric risk transfer and other ILS solutions.
Letondot, who has also worked at AIG, Assured Guaranty and Chubb amongst others, will report to Pat Donnelly, President of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement.
He will also work closely with John Donnelly, Global Head of Placement, and other Marsh leaders to ensure integration in the delivery of capabilities to clients.
